Public transport
It is possible to travel in an environmentally friendly manner by using public transport to get to several starting locations along the Tour de Dovre. Most people start from Dombås, but you can plan your route exactly how you want.
From Gardermoen
From Oslo Airport Gardermoen you can take the train directly to the starting points. See Vy.no for travel information and tickets.
Start from Hjerkinn
Take the train to Hjerkinn station. Cycle via the E6 / County Road 27 towards Folldal, then continue in the desired direction through Kvitdalen to Folldal or the National Park Trail to Dombås. Hjerkinn Fjellstue is located approximately 2.5 kilometres east of the station, towards Folldal. You can also take the bus to Hjerkinn. See Vy.no for travel information and tickets.
Start from Grimsdalshytta
There is no public transport to Grimsdalshytta, but it is possible to book a pickup service at Dovre station for a fee.
Start from Dovre
Take the train to Dovre station. Boarding and alighting with pre-booked tickets. From the station, follow the county road in the direction of Grimsdalen or Dombås. Toftemo Turiststasjon is approximately 3 kilometres north of the train station. See Vy.no for travel information and tickets.
Park your car
Dombås and Hjerkinn have the best parking facilities if you come by car.
Dombås
It is best to park your car at Dombås ski lifts, right next to Trolltun.
Hjerkinn
You can pay to park your car at Hjerkinnhus Hotel, and parking at Hjerkinn Fjellstue og Fjellridning and at the train station is free of charge.
